Synthetic or human hair wig? An honest comparison EN

We only sell synthetic wigs. That makes us a biased source, so here is the bias stated up front — and then the parts that do not favour us.

What human hair does better

A human hair wig can be bleached, permed, coloured and heat-styled like your own hair. It moves differently, especially in the first weeks. If you want one wig that changes with you over two or three years, human hair is the honest answer and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

It also costs, in most European shops, between €300 and €1,500 for something worth wearing. And it asks for work: a blow-dry after every wash, or it goes flat.

What synthetic fibre does better

Modern wig fibre is thermofixed — the wave or the straightness is set into the strand during manufacture. You wash it in cool water, let it dry on a stand, and the shape comes back by itself. No styling, no blow-dry, no skill required.

That is the real difference, and it is not about money. A human hair wig gives you freedom and asks for maintenance. A synthetic one gives you a fixed style and asks for almost nothing.

The fibre is usually a modacrylic — Kanekalon is the best known trade name. Heat-friendly grades tolerate a straightener up to about 150 °C. Above that the strand is damaged permanently, and unlike hair it does not grow back.

Where the comparison usually goes wrong

People compare a €900 human hair wig with a €30 synthetic one and conclude that human hair looks better. Of course it does. The fair comparison is one €900 wig against thirty synthetic ones, which is roughly what the same budget buys.

Three wigs in rotation last longer than one worn every day, and you get three lengths and three colours instead of one. Our catalogue runs from €10.90 to €67.90 across 448 models, so that arithmetic is not theoretical.

How long a synthetic wig actually lasts

Worn daily, four to six months before the ends start to tangle. Worn a few times a week, a year or more. The two things that shorten its life are friction at the nape — a coat collar, a seatbelt — and heat, including a car dashboard in summer.

Which to choose

Human hair if you will wear one wig every day for years, you want to restyle it, and the budget is there.

Synthetic if you want several looks, you do not want to style anything in the morning, or you are buying a first wig and do not yet know what suits you. Most people are in that second group, which is why the category exists at all.

To see what the fibre looks like in practice, the classic cap wigs are the plainest starting point, and the lace front models are the ones built to hide the hairline. We ship worldwide — see delivery and returns.
